Anyone in the know will tell you that top-down (the government telling you what you need) doesn’t cut the mustard. What does work is a “bottom up” grassroots approach: find out what people need, then help them make it happen. That’s exactly what Community Organisers are all about. The Community Foundation is hosting the first Lincolnshire-based “community organisers”, a team of 4 to work in the South and East of the County.

Lincolnshire Community Foundation has distributed £7 million in community grants from the Humber to the Wash since 2002. We galvanize communities from the grassroots up; small grants and interventions making a big difference.
Community Organisers is run by Locality. They will train and support 500 full-time community organisers throughout the UK by March 2013. The programme was created by the Office for Civil Society.
