A grant from the High Sheriff’s Fund enabled Acts Trust, to continue to operate holiday schemes in the most deprived areas of Lincoln (Moorland, Monks Road, Birchwood, Ermine and Abbey). The aim was to provide young people with positive activities, enabling them to make friends, connect with good role models, raise self-esteem, reduce boredom and antisocial behaviour. They ran seven week-long activity schemes involving mornings of multi sports activities and afternoons taking part in indoor games, crafts and activities. On Wednesday evenings, they ran a choice of trips and the project concluded with a carnival day, complete with food and inflatables and a trip to Drayton Manor Theme Park. They engaged with 442 young people who reported that this Energize project had had a positive impact on their lives, 87% felt more closely connected to their local area and 88% said they had made new friends and got to know people.
