The Evan Cornish Fund has helped the Samaritans of Grantham purchase a new laptop for training purposes. It has also help pay for travel costs for volunteers, and to provide training for new Samaritan listeners.
By increasing the number of trained listeners, the Samaritans of Grantham can continue to support lonely, frightened and marginalised people who call them. They have trained six new listeners to replace people who have retired or left the area and who respond, on average, to 6-7 callers per shift, supporting people with problems such as relationship breakdowns, online bullying, depression and so on.
